Ich hätte doch lieber ein Gänseblümchen

Die Tulpe als Ursymbol der Niederlanden und dem florierenden Handel im goldenen Zeitalter wird in Ich hätte doch lieber ein Gänseblümchen durch die Verbindung mit den eisernen Ketten zum Träger einer anderen Geschichte: T. Lauw behandelt hier die koloniale Vergangenheit der Niederlanden in Ostindien, die bis heute mannigfaltige Spuren hinterlassen hat. Das Gegenüber der zarten Blüten und dem schweren Metall führt unweigerlich zu Assoziationen des Fixierenden und Brutalen.

I'd rather have a daisy
Through the tulip as the primordial symbol of the Netherlands and the flourishing trade in the golden age, the connection with the iron chains becomes to the bearer of another story: T. Lauw deals here with the colonial past of the Netherlands in the East Indies, which continues to this day has left diverse traces. The opposite of the delicate flowers and the heavy metal inevitably leads to associations of the fixative and the brutal.
